General meetings like this are welcome -- it helps mobilize people to attend otherwise these people will not come if it's not done or called for by the city hall or their respective barangay. Invitations were sent through the barangay so each are obliged to provide transport.
Unfortunately, I have to burst some bubble and set some information straight -- I am new in the scene but I know what's happening in both spectrum so telling me you don't know is something I am not very keen to hear -- it only means "i don't care to know" because the current DPO as far as I know never lacked interaction at the office of CSWD so not knowing and ignoring are two different things.
When the state is stepping over the line and deciding to create a group they organize -- that is not making the right real for the people with disability and it's not empowering them to be self-sufficient and owner of their own actions. Someone has to speak up and hope they get the point!
For the people themselves and their relative -- no amount of facilitation and encouragement can help if you don't help yourself even just to participate in meetings or just reading and understanding the law allocated for you.
I hope this is a start of something "big" for the people with disability in San Pedro. LET'S MAKE THE RIGHT REAL this time!
